The Kuwaiti government has decided to cancel the stay of domestic staff who have been on leave for six months.
According to the local newspaper Al-Rai, the period of six months from December 1, 2021 will be counted.The Department of Residence under the Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the cancellation of residences of those who go on leave and do not return for six months has been implemented before.
"However, due to Corona, flights were suspended, so this law was also temporarily suspended."
"Now that flights from most countries have been restored, the old law is being re-enforced."
The Department of Residence said that "if citizens want to allow their domestic workers leave for more than six months, they must notify the department."
However, they must give this information before the six-month period expires. Otherwise the residency of their employees will be canceled under the automated system.
