Frozen assets in Afghanistan, from businessmen to employees, 'everyone worried'

Afghanistan's banking system has been paralyzed by a freeze of assets, making it difficult for business people to pay their staff. One such businessman is Shoaib Barak, who has been plagued by the situation.

According to the French news agency AFP, due to non-payment of salaries, these employees are not even able to pay their bills and thus the economic condition of the country has deteriorated which has affected everyone."I am very ashamed," said Shoaib Barak, who recently recruited 200 people from across the country for his construction business.

"It's very offensive to me and to every Afghan citizen. I don't pay my staff. "

When the Taliban took power in Afghanistan on August 15, Washington froze nearly ارب 10 billion in assets.

"Restore assets, if you have a problem with the Taliban, don't take revenge on the nation," Barak said.

He said he has 30 3 million in Afghan banks, which he has earned through lucrative private and government contracts.

Engineer Ahmad Zia, 55, was earning 60,000 afghanis (currency) a month, up from 70 770 before the Taliban came to power.

Four months later, she is struggling to make ends meet, and she fears that her family of six will only be able to eat once or twice a day.

Not only the staff at Barak's office, but many Afghans are now financially unstable.

Galha, a 42-year-old housemaid, is currently unemployed. She earned 8,000 afghanis a month and was the sole breadwinner of her household.

"I have 14 kg of rice, 20 to 21 kg of flour and some oil which will run out in 10 days," said Galha.

After that, Galha will be among the thousands of people who are totally dependent on aid.

It should be noted that after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, Washington had announced that the Taliban would not have access to the country's gold and cash reserves. Most of these assets are located abroad.

The United States has frozen all of its assets in Afghanistan, valued at about ارب 9.5 billion.
