'Strict' lockdown in China, trapped in more than 10 million urban homes

China has issued a travel ban on more than 10 million people in response to rising cases of the corona virus.

According to the Associated Press, China has imposed a lockdown in the northern city of Xi'an, leaving 13 million people trapped.

On the other hand, just a few weeks before the 2022 Winter Olympics, the increasing number of cases of Corona has caused a wave of anxiety for the Chinese authorities.

According to Chinese state media, Xi'an city authorities have ordered all citizens to be confined to their homes.Out of the house is allowed only on the grounds of urgent reasons, while all forms of transport to and from the city are also banned.

According to the orders, only one person from the house will be allowed to go out every other day to buy necessities.

The orders, issued by the Chinese government, go into effect between Wednesday and Thursday night.

After the orders were issued, there was a rush of citizens in the supermarkets who were shopping for necessities in the face of severe lockdown.

In the last 24 hours, 63 more cases have come to light, bringing the total number of cases to 211 in one week, according to figures released by Xi'an city authorities on Thursday.

Xi'an, the capital of Shanxi Province, is also an industrial center.

Corona cases have also been reported in several cities in the eastern province of Zhejiang, near the commercial hub of Shanghai, but specific locations have been targeted as a precautionary measure.

China has tightened security measures to reduce the number of coronavirus cases to zero, leading to the implementation of lockdowns and large-scale testing of citizens, while making it mandatory to wear a mask.

Due to the Beijing Winter Olympics to be held in the first week of February, strict security measures have been taken.

For the first time since last year's lockdown, the city of Xi'an has imposed such severe restrictions.

According to Chinese officials, the corona virus has so far killed 4,636 people and infected 1,644 across the country.
