Three boat sinks in Greece, killing more than 12 people

 Greek officials say more than a dozen people have been killed in a migrant boat sinking in the Aegean Sea.

According to the French news agency AFP, the Greek Coast Guard said that at least three people were killed when a boat sank in the Aegean Sea on Friday, while a few hours later another 11 people were killed in another incident.

This is the third incident in which migrants have been killed since Wednesday.The Coast Guard said it had recovered three bodies, while 57 people were rescued from a sinking boat off the island of Paros.

Also on Thursday evening, the bodies of 11 people were found in a boat on a small island north of the Greek island of Antiktera.

According to the Coast Guard, 90 people trapped on the island were rescued, including 11 women, including 27 children.

A small boat carrying migrants capsized in Folgandos on Wednesday, killing three people.

Greek authorities say 13 people have been rescued and dozens are missing.



A Coast Guard official told AFP that survivors made conflicting statements. Some said there were 32 people on board, while others said there were about 50.

Another boat carrying 92 people was intercepted by the Coast Guard on Friday morning. Three fugitive smugglers were arrested.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says the Folgandos incident is the worst in the Aegean Sea this year.

According to the UNHCR, more than 2,500 people have either died or gone missing at sea trying to reach Europe between January and November this year.
