Classes have been suspended and security has been beefed up in several US states following threats of attacks on educational institutions on the social media platform Tik Tak.
According to US technology website The Verge, several districts in California, Texas, Minnesota and Missouri suspended classes on Friday following the threats.
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, Tik Tak allegedly threatened to shoot and blow up schools across the United States, and this has led to increased security at educational institutions in several states.
A school in the US state of Illinois has informed parents in an email that there is a trend on December 17 regarding US schools and attacks.However, according to media reports, law enforcement agencies have declared the threats unconfirmed.
Phil Murphy, the governor of the US state of New Jersey, said in a tweet: "Despite the threats to schools in New Jersey, the safety of our children is a top priority for us and we are in touch with law enforcement. I am here and are monitoring the situation.
