According to the Arab newspaper Al-Khaleej, a Bahraini court has sentenced a former government employee to seven years in prison and a fine of 15,000 dinars for abuse of office and corruption.
The accused was employed in a government training institute in 2008 on a monthly salary of 1,950 dinars but misused his powers to increase the initial monthly salary in the electronic registration agreement to 2,100 dinars and 2,774 dinars a year later.
Even after retirement, he used the payroll system to increase his salary again to 3,300 dinars per month, thus becoming entitled to a maximum pension and benefiting up to 15,000 dinars.
