 According to Indian media, an explosion in an Indian Navy ship has killed three personnel and injured several others.

According to a statement issued by the Indian Defense Minister on Tuesday night, "This unfortunate incident took place at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. An explosion in INS Ranveer's indoor compartment killed three naval personnel without any injuries.

The statement added that no major damage was reported.According to ANI, at least 11 personnel were injured and taken to hospital.

NDTV sources said that the blast took place at 4.30 pm and was not related to the explosion of ammunition or weapons.


A board has been set up to look into the matter.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, the situation was brought under control with timely action by the ship's crew.

Keep in mind that INS Ranveer has been a part of Eastern Naval Command since November 2021 and is expected to return to base port soon.

According to Indian media, INS Ranveer joined the Indian Navy on April 21, 1986. It was developed in the former Soviet Union. These types of ships are used to provide defense against submarines, cruise missiles and low-flying warships.

The current chief of the Indian Navy, Admiral R Hari Kumar, also commanded the ship in the early days of his career.
