London: A large number of people in Pakistan suffer from fatty liver which they do not realize but now it is known that this condition can lead to another terrible and lifelong disease diabetes.
In this regard, the University of Brunel surveyed thousands of people to find out the link between fatty liver and diabetes.
For this, the scientists looked at MRI scans of 32859 people in which the size of the liver was carefully examined. He also tried to find out the genetic causes of fatty liver. The full name of fatty liver disease is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Scientists have found that a 5% increase in liver fat can increase the risk of diabetes by up to 27%. This means that if the liver is full of fats, it increases the risk of diabetes.
"Our research shows that treating NAFLD can not only help people lose weight, but also reduce their risk of diabetes," said Hani Yagotkar, head of research.
Although alcohol is the leading cause of fatty liver, it can affect people who do not drink alcohol. It is estimated that one in three people worldwide, including Pakistan, suffers from this condition.
Supporting the study, diabetes expert Erin Pelinuxi says there is a strong link between NAFLD and insulin sensitivity. We need to keep the liver free of fats because even if the fats are slightly higher than normal, there is still a risk of type 2 diabetes.
Dietitians recommend avoiding fats, greasy foods and creamy coffee, otherwise the liver will be affected first and diabetes will develop later. Therefore, it is important to increase the consumption of fruits, green leafy vegetables and cinnamon.
Experts say that to keep the liver clean and healthy, you must use spinach, apples, berries, cabbage, nuts, pulses, and fire-filled foods. In this way dual diseases can be eradicated.
