Washington: The United States has maintained sanctions on the Taliban and allowed trade and financial transactions with Afghanistan under a new policy.
According to the international news agency, the United States has introduced a new policy "General License 20" to revive the paralyzed economy of war-torn Afghanistan.
Announcing the "General License 20", US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made it clear that sanctions on the Taliban remain in place. These laws have been introduced only to facilitate the promotion of humanitarian aid and trade.
The Secretary of State added that "General License 20" will not only allow relief goods to reach the Afghan people, but will also increase business activity and solve the cash flow problem.
According to the Secretary of State, the "General License 20" will benefit a dozen sectors, including banking, infrastructure, trade, transportation, telecommunications and information transactions.
Responding to reporters' questions about the new policy, the Foreign Minister said that the "General License 20" is to pay customs, duties, fees and taxes to charities and private companies that carry out co-operation and relief activities with Afghan government agencies. Offers solutions to problems
Anthony Blanken said in response to a question that the new rules would allow companies of individuals whose leaders had been individually banned by the United States to continue their activities in Afghanistan.
Secretary of State Anthony Blanken also expressed the hope that financial institutions, NGOs, private companies and other entities benefiting from General License 20 would respect US sanctions during their financial and trade activities in Afghanistan.
The US Treasury Department called the policy "indispensable" and said that allowing trade and commerce in Afghanistan could benefit government agencies and private companies as long as it benefits the Taliban, the Haqqani Network or other US sanctions victims. Adhere to the condition of non-delivery.
It should be noted that US President Joe Biden had issued an order to distribute the frozen Afghan assets equally among the Afghan people and the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
