Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a military operation in Ukraine.
According to the US News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that Russia would take military action in Ukraine because of the threats posed by Ukraine.
Russia does not want to occupy Ukraine
The Russian president added that Russia does not want to occupy Ukraine. Ukraine will be held responsible for the bloodshed in the operation. Russia will conduct a special military operation in the Donbass region of Ukraine. Citizens will be allowed to move to safer areas.
"If you try to intervene, the consequences will be so serious."
President Putin warned that any attempt to intervene in Russia's military action would have far-reaching consequences that no one had ever seen before.
The Russian president accused the United States and its allies of ignoring Russia's demand that Ukraine be barred from joining NATO and that Moscow's security be guaranteed.
"The purpose of the military operation is to demilitarize Ukraine."
He further added that the military operation in Ukraine was aimed at demilitarizing Ukraine. Ukrainian troops who surrender will be allowed to move to safer areas.
