There will be two lunar and two solar eclipses in the UAE this year, but the country is unlikely to see a lunar eclipse.
According to Wam news agency, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, chairman of the board of directors of the UAE Astronomical Society, says that there will be two moons and two solar eclipses in the UAE this year.
Regarding the lunar eclipse, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan said that the first lunar eclipse will take place on May 16 at sunrise and the second on November 8 at sunset. However, both the lunar eclipses could not be seen in Shahid Malik.
Ibrahim al-Jarwan said there would be a solar eclipse on April 30 this year, which would be partially visible in South American countries, but not in the UAE or the Arabian Peninsula.
He said the partial solar eclipse on October 25 would be visible at 50 percent in the UAE and 86 percent in the far north of Asia.
It should be noted that the purpose of the Astronomical Society in the United Arab Emirates is to inform the public about space and astronomical matters and to promote scientific research.
