New Delhi: Seven teachers have been suspended in India for allowing students to take exams in hijab.
Anti-Muslim sentiment has become a government policy in the Indian state of Karnataka. 7 teachers suspended for allowing 10th class hijab students to sit for exams
According to Indian media, the suspended teachers include two teachers who are acting as center superintendents of examination centers. Seating will not be allowed.
Earlier this month, the Karnataka High Court had ruled that wearing hijab in educational institutions was an unnecessary religious practice. The Indian Supreme Court had also rejected the petition of Muslim students against the ban on hijab, citing anti-Muslim sentiments.
