Extensive white diamond 'The Rock' is expected to sell for 30 million in Dubai

A large diamond called "The Rock" was unveiled for the first time on Friday before an auction in Dubai.

The diamond is expected to fetch 30 million, according to the French news agency AFP.

The 228.31-carat pear-shaped diamond, which came out of a mine in South Africa 20 years ago and was polished, is the largest white diamond ever to go up for auction, according to auction house Christie's. ۔

After debuting in The Rock Christie's Dubai, where it will be on display from March 26 to 29, it will travel to Taipei, New York and Geneva, where it will be auctioned on May 11.

"Jewelry and gems have always been of great value in the Middle East," said Rahul Kadkia, Christie's international head of jewelery.

"We thought it would be good for us to launch the diamond in an area where there are great collectors who collect such important gems."

Earlier in November 2017, the largest colorless diamond, measuring 163.41 carats, was auctioned for 37 33.7 million, Christie's said.
