The Saudi Ministry of Manpower has said that from May 22, it will receive 9,600 riyals per year per domestic employee from Saudi citizens who have more than four domestic employees.
The number of people with five or more domestic workers in Saudi Arabia has exceeded 70,000.
The Ministry of Manpower and Social Welfare said in a statement: "Every Saudi citizen with more than four domestic workers will be charged per household employee." The first phase will begin on May 22.
According to Al-Aqtasadiya, 9600 riyals per domestic employee will be received annually in financial terms. This will exempt those who have more than four domestic workers in healthcare or care for the disabled.
The Ministry of Manpower has said that the financial program will be implemented in two phases for having more than four domestic workers in one household. The first phase will start on May 22, 2022. In the first phase, new domestic workers will be charged.
This would be the case when a Saudi citizen has more than four domestic workers. Compensation will be charged for having more than two domestic employees in a foreign country.
In the second phase, the number of existing and new domestic workers will be more than four in Saudi and more than two in foreign.
The Ministry of Manpower and Social Welfare said that during the next phase, opportunities would be provided to import domestic workers from 8 new countries. They will be separated from where the domestic workers are being brought so far. This will increase the number of countries from which domestic workers are being imported.
According to official reports, domestic workers are being recruited from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Nigeria, Vietnam, Mauritania, Uganda, Eritrea, South Africa, Madagascar, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Mali and Kenya.
