The Taliban stopped broadcasting foreign media in Afghanistan

Kabul: The Taliban has banned foreign media from broadcasting in local languages.

According to foreign media, the Taliban have blocked the broadcasts of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), American Broadcasting Corporation (Voice of America) and German Media (DW) in local languages.

The Taliban ordered the immediate closure of international broadcasters. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, the company's broadcasts in Pashto, Persian and Uzbek have been ordered to be aired.

The Taliban have also shut down a US state broadcaster's local channel, but radio broadcasts have not been banned.

A spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Culture said in a statement that Voice of America's TV broadcasts were banned because they contradicted Afghan culture and political policies.
