"There is no question of surrender," Ukraine said in a statement

Ukraine has rejected a request to surrender in the Russian city of Mariupol.

According to the British news agency Reuters, this reaction of Ukraine came to light on Monday. Residents of Mariupol, Ukraine's most important commercial city, are under siege and facing food, water and electricity shortages.

According to Ukraine's Pravda news portal, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Irina Verishchuk has said that "there is no question of surrendering and we have already told the Russians."

Earlier, Russia demanded that the Ukrainian army surrender in the city of Mariupol, fearing "terrible humanitarian catastrophe."

Russia has said Ukrainian troops defending the city of Mariupol will be given a safe passage if they surrender, while humanitarian corridors will be reopened at 10 a.m. Russian time on Monday.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian city of Mariupol is suffering from the worst conditions since the Russian invasion on February 24 due to heavy bombardment and about 4 million of its residents are facing shortage of food, water and electricity.

A local governor, Paolo Carilleniko, said without elaborating that "clashes continued in the city of Mariupol on Sunday."

On Sunday, Ukraine's deputy prime minister said "about 7,000 people had been evacuated from various Ukrainian cities, most of them from Mariupol."

He added that the government would send 50 more buses to Mariupol on Monday to facilitate the evacuation of more citizens.

Russia and Ukraine have agreed several times during the last month's war to evacuate their citizens through various corridors, but the two countries have repeatedly accused each other of violating these agreements. Are

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky addressed the Israeli parliament on Sunday via video link and questioned Israel's reluctance to sell Iron Dome missiles to Ukraine.

"Everyone knows that your missile defense systems are the best and they can certainly help us, they can save the lives of Ukrainians," Zelensky said.

Later, in a video, he welcomed the mediation efforts of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who has been in constant contact with the Russian and Ukrainian presidents to improve the situation.
