Two hours long video call between US and Chinese presidents on Ukraine conflict

US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed Russia's aggression in Ukraine via video call on Friday.

According to details released by the White House, President Biden expressed the views of the United States and its allies on the Ukraine issue. He also spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer. He told President Xi that if China helped Russia, it would face "consequences".

The two presidents agreed on the importance of keeping the means of communication open, according to a White House statement.

According to Chinese media, President Xi tried to make people believe that such conflicts are not in anyone's interest.

According to a Reuters report, the talks lasted less than two hours.

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman told US television channel MSNBC that Xi would have to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was fighting a "voluntary war" in Ukraine. And stop the massacre. "

He told CNN that there was a need for China to ensure that it did not fall into the same trap as Russia or any other country, financially or otherwise.

According to Chinese media, Xi told Biden that conflicts and confrontations like the one in Ukraine were not in anyone's interest. Xi said relations between one country and another should not reach the level of confrontation, as conflicts and confrontations are not in anyone's interest.
