Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq al-Rubayeh has said that the number of Hajj pilgrims this year will be determined keeping in view health and safety.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya Channel, Al-Rubayeh said, "The Saudi leadership desperately wants all Hajj activities to be carried out in a peaceful environment and with peace and security."
"The number of pilgrims is being assessed in collaboration with health agencies," he said.
The Minister of Hajj said that the health and safety of the pilgrims is paramount. It will be decided on the basis of credible health reports and decisions regarding Hajj will be made.

He said that the doors of Umrah are open for all in the Masjid-ul-Haram with great capacity. Decisions are being taken in full cooperation with the administration of the two holy shrines.
Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rubayeh appealed to the Umrah pilgrims to obtain permits through the Etemarna or Tawakalna app.
It may be recalled that Dr Tawfiq Al-Rubayeh had earlier tweeted that "Umrah was suspended due to the epidemic two years ago but now anyone can perform Umrah".
In addition, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has given the green signal to more than 355 Umrah companies and institutions to provide quality services to Umrah pilgrims and to solve the problems of local companies and institutions.
According to Al-Watan newspaper, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has taken necessary steps to maintain a positive atmosphere in the Umrah sector.
With the restoration of housing concession, the files of suspended Umrah companies and institutions have been reviewed.
