New York: For the first time in American history, hundreds of Muslims offered Taraweeh prayers in Times Square, a popular area of New York.
Ramadan, the holiest month for Muslims, has begun. This month is adorned with the blessed moments of Sahar and Iftar and the recitation of the Holy Quran in Taraweeh. Large Taraweeh gatherings are held not only in mosques but also in public places.
In this regard, for the first time in American history, Taraweeh prayers were offered in the heart of New York and at the famous shopping mall, Times Square, which was attended by hundreds of people.
Talking to local media, the organizers said that the purpose of holding Taraweeh prayers was to dispel the misconception that Islam is a peaceful religion.
Expressing their views, the Muslim citizens who participated in Taraweeh prayers said that listening to Qur'an in Taraweeh is a special act of worship in Ramadan and today they are happy to have this happiness.
It should be noted that Iftar and Maghrib prayers have been offered at Times Square but Taraweeh has been held in congregation for the first time.
