The daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin have been banned by the United States.
According to the French news agency AFP, the US government on Wednesday imposed sanctions on both daughters of President Putin, about whom more information has never come to light.
U.S. officials say Putin's daughter, Katrina Tekhonova, heads a technology company that supports the Russian defense industry, and her other daughter, Maria Vernotsova, heads government-funded genetic research programs.
A senior US official says Putin's assets have been hidden under the cover of his family members.
According to the Kremlin's official website, Putin's daughter Maria was born in 1985. This was at a time when Putin had not yet moved to Dresden, Germany, to work as an agent for the Russian secret service, the KGB.
In recent years, Putin has spoken little about his family. On various occasions, she said only that her daughters had been educated at Russian universities and could speak several European languages.
There are also grandchildren of President Putin, about whom little is known.
According to AFP, there is not much information about Putin's family, partly because the Russian government is committed to keeping that information secret.
According to Russian media reports, Maria Veronetsova is an endocrinologist affiliated with a major medical research company. The company works with the government to treat cancer.
Katrina Tekhonova is a mathematician who heads the Science and Technology Foundation, a Russian university.
Katrina Tekhonova is also an acrobatic rock and roll dancer who has competed in many major international competitions.
During a press conference in 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked about his daughters' growing business and their relationship with the government, but did not respond.
But many years ago, Putin told a news conference that "I am proud of him. She is also working on her education. They are engaged in some kind of business and have nothing to do with politics.
Later, in 2010, Putin said in an interview that he could not provide information about his family for "security reasons".
He did say that he had grandchildren but did not say how many.
"My grandchildren are great-grandchildren. I'm happy. They are very nice and lovely. I enjoy spending time with them. "
