Switzerland freezes 8 billion in Russian assets

Bern: The European country Switzerland has so far frozen about ً 8 billion in Russian assets in the wake of the embargo.

According to the report of foreign news agency, after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, sanctions were imposed on Russia by other countries including Europe and America. In this regard, Switzerland has so far frozen Russia's assets of 8 billion dollars.

The report states that the total frozen Russian assets in Switzerland include bank accounts and Russian properties in various states. It may be recalled that Switzerland adopted the EU's policy of sanctions on Russia on February 28 and began to gradually freeze Russian assets in its country.

Two weeks ago, Swiss authorities reported that they had frozen about ً 5.75 billion in Russian assets, and now the number of assets has risen to  8 billion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Mirzelinsky announced last month that Switzerland is the center of the assets of Moscow's elite, which has Russian assets that should be identified and frozen as soon as possible. Swiss and Ukrainian officials also met on Wednesday to discuss sanctions against Russia, but no details were released.
