Tunisia calls Tayyip Erdogan's interference in internal affairs unacceptable

Tunisia City: The Foreign Ministry has said that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's statement condemning the dissolution of parliament by the President is an interference in internal affairs which is unacceptable.

According to international media, Erdogan called Tunisian President Qais Saeed's order to dissolve parliament last week an anti-democratic act and a "blow to the sovereignty of the Tunisian people."

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Turkish president's remarks were "unacceptable interference in the country's affairs."

The Foreign Ministry added that Tunisia supports close relations with its friendly countries, but maintains its independence of decision-making process and rejects any other country's interference in its sovereignty.

Tunisian Foreign Minister Osman Girandi said on Twitter that he had also spoken to his Turkish counterpart on the phone, summoned the Turkish ambassador and condemned Erdogan's remarks.
