Wealthy beggar arrested in Dubai, 40,000 dirhams recovered

Dubai police have arrested a wealthy beggar in the United Arab Emirates. 40,000 dirhams and currency notes of different countries have been recovered from his possession.

Dubai police in the UAE are conducting a crackdown on beggars. During Ramadan, beggars from different countries have arrived in the UAE.

Col. Ahmed al-Adidi, in-charge of the anti-begging agency under the Public Prosecution in Dubai, said: Public opinion was being told that begging was a threat to the peace and stability of the society.

"The campaign against the beggars is moving forward successfully," said Col. Ahmed al-Adidi. The number of beggars is declining every year and this is a great achievement.

"People who want to do charity work should donate to government agencies, associations and regular registered charities," he said.

Welfare associations are organizing special programs for Iftar. Iftar program can also be done individually but permission is required for this. "Don't give alms to beggars," he said. If you see anyone begging, report to the contact center or the police station.
