With one member of parliament leaving the government, the Israeli prime minister lost his majority

A member of the Israeli parliament split from the government on Wednesday over a religious dispute, after which the government lost a majority in parliament.

According to the Associated Press, the government formed almost a year after the departure of Idat Salman may have to go for re-election.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will remain prime minister, but his 60-member government will remain in the 120-member parliament.

According to the state-run news agency, the outgoing member belonged to the Yamina Party, a religious party in Naftali Bent. He opposed the distribution of leavened food in government hospitals, which was against Jewish beliefs.

The Israeli government's coalition included eight political parties, including Islamists, hardline nationalists and liberals.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Idat Salman says she cannot help damage the Israeli state's Jewish identity and will help form a right-wing government.

Israel has held four elections in the last two years. By forming an unnatural alliance last year, the Naftali Bennett overthrew the 12-year rule of former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Opposition leader Netanyahu has congratulated Salman on his "return home".
