Iran restores nuclear talks: International Atomic Energy Agency

The International Atomic Energy Agency called on Iran to resume negotiations to avoid a crisis that could make the 2015 nuclear deal very difficult.

According to the French news agency AFP, Iran removed some cameras this week that were installed for the purpose so that international inspectors could monitor nuclear activities.

"The 27 monitoring cameras have been removed," Rafael Grosy, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in an interview on the US broadcaster CNN. He called it a "very serious move".

He added that the recent history tells us that it is never a good thing to start to say to international inspectors to go home. Things become very disturbing. '

Rafael Grossi said he was saying to his Iranian counterparts, "We have to sit down now, we have to resolve the situation, we have to continue working together."

"The only way for Iran to gain confidence is to allow IAEA inspectors to be there," he said.

Grosy said his agency would soon be unable to announce whether the Iranian nuclear program was peaceful as Tehran repeatedly insisted or Iran was making an atom bomb.

"Even if the Iranians re -activate the cameras in a few months, whatever they do, they will remain confidential and potentially disrupt any agreement," Grosy said.

According to him, Iran's recent move has "made the way back to the deal."
