Afghanistan's 'Sufi Baba' was assassinated in India

 Khawaja Syed Chishti, a spiritual leader of Muslims from Afghanistan, has been killed in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

According to India's news website NDTV, 35-year-old Khawaja Syed Chishti, popularly known as 'Sufi Baba', was shot dead at a place about 200 km from Mumbai.


According to police, he was shot in the head and died on the spot.

Police officer Sachin Patil said that Syed Chishti's driver is the main accused. Eyewitnesses have named his driver. The accused is being questioned.

According to police, Syed Chishti had been living in Yola town of Nasik for many years.

The motive for the killing was not immediately clear, but police said Chishti may have been killed in connection with a plot of land he acquired with the help of locals, but Afghan nationals. Could not buy land in the country.
