Manila: In a university in the Philippines, a gunman killed the former mayor who was the guest of honor in the distribution of certificates, while two other people were also killed in the shooting.
According to the international news agency, the shooting happened in the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. At the time of the shooting, a graduation ceremony for law students was underway and many government officials, including parents, were present.
The former mayor and a security guard are also involved in the shooting while the third person is still being identified. After chasing the assailant, the police arrested him in an injured condition.
The identity of the accused has not been revealed, but the accused belongs to the city of Lamitan, which is considered to be a stronghold of extremist religious organizations, and in particular, Abu Sayyaf has links with Daesh. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
