Floods in Iran's Fars province, at least 17 people dead

 At least 17 people have died due to floods in Iran's Fars province.

Arab News quoted Iran's official TV on Saturday as saying that the governor of Fars, Yusuf Kariger, said on Saturday that heavy rains have caused a flood situation in the city of Istban.


Yusuf Karigar further said that rescue teams have rescued 55 people who were trapped in the flood water, but six people are still missing.

Iran's Meteorological Department has issued a warning that this time there will be heavy rains in the country suffering from drought for several decades, the department has also said that this is happening due to climate change.

Due to the rains, the risks to the buildings and roads along the river have also increased.

It should be noted that in 2019, at least 76 people were killed in the southern part of the country due to floods.
