Houthis brutally tortured model hostage in Sana'a prison

In Yemen, Houthi rebels have brutally tortured and held in solitary confinement the kidnapped model Intisar al-Hammadi in Sana'a.

According to Arab News, the Houthis in Yemen kidnapped a 20-year-old Yemeni model and actress last year while she was visiting Sana'a with her friend.

After the abduction, the Houthi militia tortured the model Al Hammadi and locked her in a solitary confinement cell in Sana'a prison after undergoing medical tests.

Model Intisar al-Hammadi has been sentenced to five years in prison for involvement in prostitution and drug use.

The model reportedly vehemently denied the allegations, saying she was abducted for refusing to work with the group.

This week, Houthi kidnapper Umm Zayed brutally tortured Al Hammadi with electric wires, causing injuries to his face and body.

A source from Sana'a told Arab News over the phone that Al Hammadi chewed the leaves of a plant called kaat outside his cell in prison, after which the model was seen in this condition. This plant is said to be used for intoxication.

Yemeni activists, journalists, government officials and lawyers have condemned the treatment of model Al Hammadi and jointly demanded the immediate release of the model from the Houthi rebels.
