Rangoon: The military government in Myanmar executed 4 prisoners, including a former member of the National Assembly of Aung San Suu Kyi's party.
According to the World News Agency, former Myanmar ruler Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy member Phyu Zyatha was arrested in November and sentenced to death earlier this year on terrorism charges.
The pro-democracy activist Kyawman Yu, also known as "Jimmy", was also sentenced to death by a military tribunal. Similarly, two more workers were also sentenced to death and all four were hanged today.
Death penalty has been implemented in Myanmar for decades. International powers, including the United States, strongly protested the execution of political activists and indicated strict restrictions on Myanmar's military government.
On the other hand, officials of the ruling military government in Myanmar have said that the four were executed for brutal and inhumane acts of terror. By hanging all four, the criminals have been brought to their logical conclusion.
It should be noted that on February 1, 2021, the army seized power by arresting the ruling Aung San Suu Kyi, on which anti-army demonstrations began across the country and in the crackdown, dozens of assembly members and workers were detained and rebellion and terrorism started. Cases are being prosecuted.
