Sajid Javed of Pakistani origin is also in the running for the new British Prime Minister

The new Conservative Party leader will be elected in the coming days after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation from the post of Conservative Party leader on Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, Boris Johnson will remain prime minister until party members elect a new party leader.

In the following lines, we will consider the candidates who could replace Boris Johnson as the leader of the Conservative Party and the Prime Minister of the country.

Sajid Javed (Former Health Minister)

Sajid Javed, 52, resigned as health minister on Tuesday. "Enough is enough," he announced, and "the problem starts at the top."

Sajid Javed was the Minister of Health from June 2021. He had previously served as finance minister, but resigned in early 2020 after disagreements with Boris Johnson over the firing of his advisers. Boris Johnson brought them back to deal with the corona virus, which shows their ability.

Sajid Javed, a father of four, was elected in 2010. He has been head of business, culture and housing departments, including the interior ministry.

He ran for Conservative leader in 2019 but lost to Boris Johnson in the fourth round.

Sajid Javed's parents were Pakistani and he had a brilliant career in the banking sector before entering politics.

Sevilla Brewerman (Attorney General)

Sevilla Brewerman is a Member of Parliament and Barrister. He has been the Attorney General of the United Kingdom since 2020.

She announced publicly on Wednesday that she would try to become the leader of Britain's Conservative Party.

Sevilla Brewerman is not so popular with the public, while despite being in Boris Johnson's cabinet, his announcement surprised many.

Rishi Sonak (Former Finance Minister)

Rishi Sonak, one of the Conservatives' most likely candidates for the presidency, resigned on Tuesday.

He had said in his resignation that "the people expect the government to be run in a proper manner, competently and seriously."

Rishi Sonak was once widely regarded as the brightest rising star of the party and was a favorite of bookmakers to replace Boris Johnson.

He became finance minister during the difficult times of 2020 and his policies were well received. But the "Party Gate" changed everything, and he, like the British Prime Minister, was fined by the police for attending a birthday party on Downing Street in Lockdown.

He also came under fire for failing to take timely action to tackle soaring inflation in the UK.

Liz Truss (Foreign Minister)

Liz Truss, 46, took over the top cabinet post in September after serving as trade minister. Since then, he has gained momentum within the party and has never kept his intentions a secret.

He is also Britain's key negotiator with the European Union on issues following Britain's withdrawal from the bloc. Liz Truss, who once campaigned for EU membership, has become a Bridget champion.

She is popular with many Conservatives, who have a glimpse of the party's first female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher.

Ben Wallace (Minister of Defense)

Ben Wallace is known for his outspokenness, especially among Conservative lawmakers who have called on Britain to increase its defense spending.
