Saudi citizens and expatriates are interested in visiting Tabuk's historical fort these days. The Prophet of Islam camped here on the occasion of Tabuk.
According to the Saudi news agency "SPA", this historic fort has been an important stop on the Hajj highway connecting Syria and Madinah in the past.
There are many forts and passenger houses located on the Hajj highway from Syria. This highway starts from the border region of Jordan and goes to Medina.
The fort of Tabuk was built in 1568 according to 976 AH. Then it was repaired several times. It was modified in 1653 according to 1064 AH and then in 1843 according to 1259 AH.
According to 1370 AH, it was reconstructed in 1950. Going forward 1413 AH, in 1992, the Saudi Museum and Archeology Institute made extensive modifications to it.
The Saudi Department of Tourism and National Heritage gave it a new look in 2012 according to 1434 AH. Now it has become 'Tabuk Fort Museum'. It is decorated with many antiques. Tourists come to visit museums.
Tabuk Fort is two-storied. The ground floor has an open courtyard. There are several rooms. There is a mosque, a well. There is a staircase to reach the upper floor. There are mosques and rooms open for prayer in summer.
There are also stairs leading up to the turrets (towers) to watch over Tabuk Fort. Behind the Tabuk Fort are two Sultani Ponds. They are very good in terms of architecture. Both are related to each other in a special way. One is square in shape while the other is rectangular in shape
