Washington: US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has said that he is working with Pakistan to convince the Taliban to allow girls to go back to school.
According to the World News Agency, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken praised Pakistan's role in persuading the Taliban government to open girls' schools in Afghanistan in a speech at the opening ceremony of the US-Afghan Consultative Mechanism. Pakistan is our partner in this matter.
The US Secretary of State further said that apart from Pakistan, OIC, Qatar and Turkey are also helping the US in negotiating with the Taliban government to remove the barriers to girls' education.
Antony Blanken also confirmed talks with Taliban officials for the possible recovery of foreign reserves frozen by Afghanistan's central bank in August last year.
Regarding the US-Afghan Consultative Mechanism, the US Secretary of State said that through this platform, Afghan citizens will be able to directly communicate with US policy makers.
According to the US Secretary of State, this new platform will give Afghan women in trouble, journalists, ethnic and religious minorities who are at serious risk of life and property an opportunity to talk with US representatives.
Foreign Minister Antony Blanken added that the platform's priorities are to develop strategies to support women's income-generating activities in Afghanistan and human rights monitors in Afghanistan.
According to the US Secretary of State, new ways to promote religious freedom in Afghanistan and securely documenting the abuse of oppressed communities will also be among the platform's priorities.
