The woman who opened fire at the Dallas airport in the United States was arrested

A 37-year-old woman was shot and wounded by an officer after she apparently fired several shots at the ceiling inside Dallas Low Field Airport on Monday, US authorities said.

According to the Associated Press, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia told a news conference that the woman was dropped off near the airport around 11 a.m. and walked near the ticketing counter and entered the bathroom.

"They came out wearing a hooded shirt or other clothing, which they had not been wearing before, pulled out a gun and apparently fired several shots into the roof."

According to the police chief, 'at this time we do not know what was their target.'

He said that an officer nearby shot the woman in the 'lower torso', injuring her and taking her into custody. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Eddy Garcia said, "In this incident, no other person was injured except the suspect woman."

Police later identified the woman as 37-year-old Portia Odofova, but did not say why she opened fire.

"We wanted to make sure our community knew this was not an alarming situation," Eddie Garcia added.

It should be noted that this was not the first violent incident of shooting at the airport.

In 2016, a police officer shot and injured a man outside Lowfield. Police said he approached the officer after throwing a rock at his ex-girlfriend's car.
