LONDON: The TikTok app is generally thought of as an entertainment app, but surprisingly, British adults are using it to listen to news.
In this regard, an interesting survey has been conducted by the British regulator company of Com. According to this, in the year 2020, one percent of the population was using Tik Tok to get news and now its rate has reached 7 to 7 percent, which is a rapidly growing trend.
Apart from this, Tik Tok itself is also flourishing here, which is now getting the status of a serious information app. On the other hand, Generation Z teenagers born between 1997 and 2012 in America are now using TikTok or Instagram for food, fashion and other products instead of Google search or maps.
Although Tik Tok has grown in popularity, it is still the most popular among 16-24 year olds. While the BBC app or website, Twitter and Instagram etc. are more popular.
Now if we talk about the children of 12 to 15 years, it will be known that they are attracted towards social media, among them Instagram, YouTube and Tik Tok are at the top. Surprisingly, the younger generation is no longer watching TV for news, rather they get information by looking at social media feeds. It is expected that this trend will further increase in the next few years.
