King Abdulaziz Academy has released a story on its Twitter account detailing the design and manufacturing of the door of the Kaaba for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
King Abdulaziz Academy has stated that the founder of the state, Shah Abdulaziz, issued a royal decree to prepare the door of the Kaaba in the state during 1944 according to 1363 AH. The door that was installed in the Kaaba at that time was installed 318 years ago.
The new door was prepared and installed in 1947 according to 1366 AH. This door was made from Javanese teak wood. It was coated with a layer of pure silver that was painted with gold. Its frame was of solid iron.
The Academy says that the door of the Kaaba was decorated with flowers. Verses were inscribed in the Al-Thul script and eleven good names were written on the sides of the door.
King Abdulaziz Academy said that after that, according to 1398 AH, during 1978, Shah Khalid bin Abdulaziz ordered to prepare the door of Kaaba. The new door was manufactured from teak wood in three major phases. Its frame was made of steel and layers and bands of pure gold were applied to it
