Another benefit of strawberries has been discovered, it is also useful for the brain

CHICAGO: Another benefit of adding delicious strawberries to your salad, porridge or meal is now being shown to be brain-friendly, specifically preventing the build-up of the tau protein that causes Alzheimer's.

Scientists at the Alzheimer's Research Center at Rush University in Chicago have discovered a compound in strawberries called pelargonidin that prevents the formation of tau protein in the brain. This protein accumulates in the form of clusters and severely affects the intellectual and cognitive ability of the brain.

Research associate Julie Schneider says that pelargonidin, a compound in strawberries, reduces overall brain inflammation. It also reduces the production of proteins called cytokines, which cause inflammation. In this way, the onset of Alzheimer's in the elderly can be prevented or at least slowed down.

Experts also say that strawberries are the only berries that contain the highest amount of pelargonidin. Scientists have said that more research is needed in this regard, but if this is proved, then a common fruit like strawberry can definitely help in controlling the painful and difficult disease like Alzheimer's.

In this context, 575 people were evaluated for 20 years and it was found that tau protein is really reduced by eating strawberries. By reducing this harmful protein and reducing internal inflammation, the brain remains energetic and diseases like Alzheimer's can be kept at bay.
