Capable but not intending to build nuclear bomb, Iran

Tehran: Iran's nuclear chief, Mohammad Eslami, has claimed that Iran has all the technical capabilities to build atomic bombs and weapons, but has no current plans to do so.

Speaking to the Iranian news agency Fars News, Mohammad Eslami has admitted that Iran has the technical skills and ability to make nuclear bombs, but they do not have such an organization yet.

The statement of the head of the Iranian nuclear agency came at a time when negotiations with other world powers are underway in Vienna for Iran's rejoining the nuclear deal.

A few days ago, after inspecting the Isfahan nuclear facility, Muhammad Islami said in a conversation with the media that the construction of a nuclear research reactor here will officially begin in a few weeks.

Similarly, Kamal Kharazi, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also said in a similar statement that Iran is interested in producing nuclear weapons.

Iran is currently enriching 60 percent of its uranium and is committed to increasing it, but has always denied that it is developing nuclear weapons.
