 The UAE Traffic Department has warned that eating, drinking, wearing make-up and using mobile phones while driving is a violation of traffic laws. There is a fine of 800 dirhams.

According to Emirates Al-Youm, Abu Dhabi Police has warned drivers that any act that distracts the driver from the road while driving is a traffic violation. Distractions lead to accidents. For this reason, eating, drinking, smoking and putting on make-up etc. fall under the category of violation. There is a fine of 800 dirhams and a deduction of 4 points.

Over the years, there have been dozens of traffic accidents in Abu Dhabi due to the use of mobile phones while driving, in which many people have lost their lives. Many were injured and vehicles were damaged.

The Emirates Traffic Department has taken action against drivers for using mobile phones while driving or for various distractions from the road.

Abu Dhabi Police released statistics on traffic accidents and said that over the past years, most of the traffic accidents in the state were due to distraction from the road. During the first half of this year, more than one lakh violations have been recorded in this regard.

Abu Dhabi Police says that there are several problems caused by making or receiving calls or sending or receiving SMS while driving. Most importantly, the driver becomes oblivious to the road scenario. The vehicle deviates from the track and sometimes its speed is blurred. Multiple vehicles crash into each other. Signals also break sometimes due to negligence. In this way many serious violations are committed.
