EX Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councilor Muhammad Azim has died.
Councilor Mohammad Azim served as Lord Mayor for two consecutive years from 2019 to 2021. Councilor Azim also served as Deputy Lord Mayor from 2021 to 2022.

Councilor Azim came to the UK from Azad Kashmir in the 60s, Mohammad Azim was the fourth Muslim Lord Mayor of Birmingham and was recently re-elected as a councilor for the Sparkbrook ward.
Lord Mayor Maureen Cornish and Leader City Council Ann Ward have paid tribute to Councilor Mohammad Azim for his service, while MP Jess Phillips and other councilors have also expressed their sadness at Councilor Mohammad Azim's death.
