Fourth Muslim murder in New Mexico 'possibility of connection between recent events'

After the killing of a fourth Muslim man in the US state of New Mexico between Friday and Saturday night, police have expressed fears that it may be related to three previous ambushes.

According to the American news agency Associated Press, the murdered Muslim man belongs to a South Asian country and his age is said to be around 25, 26 years old.

Police have not released the man's name as he has yet to be identified.

Four Muslims have been killed in different incidents in the New Mexico city of Albuquerque in nine months.

According to the police officials, when the officials reached the spot after receiving the information about the shooting, the body of the person was found.

Earlier this week, local detectives and police confirmed that authorities were trying to find a connection in the separate incidents.

Last week, two separate shootings killed Mohammad Afzal Hussain, 27, and Aftab Hussain, 41, both from Pakistan who used to worship at the same mosque.

Similarly, the third incident took place in November in which 62-year-old Muhammad Ahmadi, who hailed from South Isha, was killed.

Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said at a press conference that "there are indications that the shootings are related."

Police did not say whether Friday night's killing followed the same procedure as previous incidents.

Officials say the identity of the accused and the motive behind the incident cannot be said to be a hate crime at this time.

"Our community is in a state of grief, you can't imagine," says Ahmed Asad, president of the Islamic Center in New Mexico.

According to him, this has never happened to us before, this is a very tough time for us.

Besides, a reward of 15,000 dollars has also been announced for anyone who helps in the search of an accused involved in the murder incident.
