New weight regulations for trucks on highways

 The Traffic Department has issued new weight and size regulations for loading trucks. For this purpose Section 23 of the Traffic Act has been amended.

According to Akhbar 24, the traffic department has pointed out that the drivers of loading trucks on the highways have to adhere to certain weight and size restrictions.

The Saudi Standard Organization has set weight and size regulations in this regard. Violation will result in disciplinary action.

The traffic department said that in case of overloading from 200 to 2000 kg, there will be a fine of 200 riyals per kg. While the excess weight from 2.1 thousand to 5 thousand kg will be fined 300 riyals per hundred kg.

The traffic department said that there will be a fine of 500 Rials per hundred kilograms for excess weight from 7.1 thousand to 10 thousand kilograms and 800 Rials for excess weight of 10.1 thousand kilograms.

The traffic department has warned that in case of violation of weight and size during a trip, the fine imposed for the second time will be doubled as compared to the first time. The maximum limit of fine cannot exceed one lakh Riyals.

The traffic department has warned that the driver who passes the loading truck without checking the weight and size station will be fined five thousand riyals. For second violation, the fine will be doubled as compared to the first time. However, a fine of more than one lakh riyals will not be charged.
