In many patients, it was observed that the appetite went away due to depression, and in some patients, the appetite increased. When their brains were analyzed and their neural connections were observed, experts were able to tell in the case of depression which person would have a decreased appetite or which patient would have an increased appetite. This study found that depression can be predicted in a patient by looking at the decrease in appetite.
