A 22-year-old student has been arrested in Egypt for stabbing his 20-year-old girlfriend to death after she refused to marry him.
According to Arab News, the latest incident of this brutal murder by a fanatic has shaken the entire nation.
The Public Prosecution of Egypt issued a statement saying that 22-year-old Islam Mohammed has been detained for investigation on the charge of the planned murder of 20-year-old student Salma Baghat in the city of Al-Qaziq, Egypt.
According to the prosecution, the deceased Salma and her family rejected her marriage proposal due to her bad behavior, unusual beliefs and drug addiction.
The accused, Islam Muhammad, while confessing to the crime, said that Salma used to study with him at Al-Sharooq Academy in the city and killed him last Tuesday for refusing to accept some of my demands and quit his job.\According to local media reports, the accused stabbed the victim 17 times while leaving a building in the city. After which a picture of his dead body was taken and posted online.
It should be noted that the revenge killing of Salma Baghat is the latest incident of murder by Ashna in Egypt.
Earlier in June this year, Naira Ashraf, a 21-year-old Egyptian student of the university, was killed by her boyfriend in broad daylight while coming out of the campus.
The reason for this murder was that Naira Ashraf refused the advances of her friend Muhammad Adel, after which the people of Egypt expressed their anger.
According to the figures of the Gennaj Foundation for Development and Equality, which works in Egypt, about 7.8 million girls and women have experienced some form of gender-based violence in Egypt so far.
In a report published last year by the Cognition Foundation, 415 cases of violent crimes against girls and women were reported in Egypt in 2020 alone.
