Taiwan: Missile program scientist found dead in hotel room

A scientist linked to Taiwan's missile program was found dead in a hotel room.

Taiwanese officials have said China wants to attack Taiwan under the guise of military exercises in retaliation for a visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and such activities were seen by its warships on Saturday.

According to the British news agency Reuters, after the visit of the Speaker of the American House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, China and the United States have stopped negotiations in many areas.

After Pelosi arrived in Taiwan for an unannounced visit, China reacted strongly and began military exercises, including the firing of ballistic missiles over Taipei.

According to the schedule released by China, the war drills will continue for half a day on Sunday.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said the activities in the Taiwan Strait involved a large number of Chinese ships and aircraft, some of which even crossed the unofficial median line, an unofficial boundary between the two. There is a ban.

What Taiwanese military officials believe was a rehearsal for an invasion of the island.

Taiwan's military has issued a warning and has tightened air surveillance as it prepares missiles.

According to the Ministry of Defense, seven drones and a plane flew over Kinman and Matsu Islands late on Friday night.

Both islands are located off the southeast coast of China.

Despite threats from China, Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday, the first visit by a top US official in decades.

Shortly after the speaker of the US House of Representatives left for Japan on Friday, China announced the suspension of talks with the US in several areas, including military and climate change.

China's foreign ministry also said that it was also stopping the exchange of information on both sides of the border to prevent crime and drug smuggling.

The US has described China's response as 'irresponsible'.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken has said that Washington has made it clear to Beijing several times that it does not want to create a crisis over Pelosi's visit.

He said while holding a press conference in the nearby country of Cambodia that "no explanation can be given for the inappropriate and aggressive military response."

Remember that China claims its ownership over Taiwan, while Taiwan denies it and declares itself an independent country.
