Trump's home searched, 'top secret' documents recovered

The US Federal Investigation Agency (FBI) has recovered 11 important documents files, some of which were marked 'top secret', during the search of former President Donald Trump's house.

According to the news agency Reuters, the US Department of Justice has said that the reason for the search of the former president's house was a violation of the Espionage Act.

The disclosure comes four days after an FBI raid for which a US magistrate judge issued a search warrant.

The warrant issued for the raid and search of the former president's home cited the Espionage Act, which makes it a crime to divulge information that could harm national security.

On the other hand, Donald Trump said in a statement released on his social media platform that 'all records were declassified' meaning they had already been made public and were kept in a 'safe place'.

The former president belonging to the Republican Party said that he did not need to raid the house and do politics, but he could take them whenever he wanted. They did not need to seize anything.

The search was part of an investigation into whether Trump illegally removed documents when he left office.

Earlier, the Department of Justice said that some of these are classified documents that are kept secret.

Attorney General Mark Garland, nominated by President Joe Biden, told a press conference that he himself had authorized a search of Donald Trump's home.
