Why did he drink water from the pot of a high caste teacher? 9-year-old Dalit child killed by violence

 Jaipur: In India, it has become a crime for a student to drink water from the pot of a high-caste teacher. A 9-year-old Dalit child lost his life after being in a life-and-death struggle for several days due to the brutal torture of the teacher.

According to Indian media, the case filed against the school teacher in Rajasthan's Jalur district says that on July 20, the upper-caste teacher brutally assaulted 9-year-old student Indra Kumar Meghwal for allegedly drinking water from his pot. The injured child was pushed by his parents for 24 days from one hospital to another for treatment, but the 9-year-old student died on Saturday.
It may be noted that Cheil Singh, 40, owns a private school and is also a teacher, while 9-year-old Indrakumar Meghwal was a third-grade student. The child's family claims that after the incident, they are being pressured by prominent figures and the community to compromise on the matter and not approach the police.

According to the child's relative, the local people pressured us not to file a case after the meeting in the school, while the teacher also offered to pay two and a half lakh rupees in two installments in return for keeping his mouth shut. He said that after the incident, when he went to school, the teacher accepted that he had made a mistake.


According to the FIR, after the child drank water, the upper caste teacher abused him mercilessly, resulting in severe internal injuries to the child's right ear and eye. Local medical officials say the cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report.


According to the police, after several days of talks and sit-ins, the last rites of the child have been paid under an agreement.
