7 people arrested for providing transport to 40 illegal immigrants

 Makkah Police has arrested 7 citizens for providing transport facility to 40 people who crossed the border and entered the country illegally.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the aforementioned citizens were taking 24 Yemeni and 16 Ethiopian migrants from the border area to the city in 5 large vehicles.

The Makkah Police has said that it is suspected that the said citizens were already in contact with the infiltrators.

The police have said that it is a serious crime to "facilitate, cooperate with or assist illegal immigrants in any way".

"Doing so can be punished with imprisonment up to 15 years and a fine of up to 10 lakh Riyals".
