How to apply for a new visa if the passport is lost?

The Immigration Department in Dubai has explained the procedures for lost passport and re-visa application.

Iqama holders whose passports with visas are lost can get their Dubai visas re-issued after obtaining a new passport.

According to Emirates Al-Youm newspaper, it has been instructed by the immigration authority in Dubai that those foreign iqama holders whose valid passports have a Dubai visa affixed on them should report the loss of the passport to the relevant police station for which a formal form has been submitted. Must be filled.
There are different categories for reporting lost passports by the Immigration Office, according to which, in case of loss of passport of any of the dependent family members of the foreign national, it should be reported to the nearest police station.

Employees who work in a company, before reporting the loss of their passport to the governorate visa department, should submit an application on the letterpad of the company in the concerned police station, which includes the passport number and the details of the loss. A copy of the company's license should also be attached along with the application at the police station.

In case of loss of the valid passport of the domestic workers, the sponsor's information should also be provided in the application to the police station and a copy of the sponsor's passport should also be attached.

According to immigration law, lost passports are reported to various agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Special Department of the Dubai Court.

Along with the initial report made to the police, the visa section in the governorate and the prosecuting agency and then the foreign affairs agency from where the visa was issued will also be informed.

After confirming the application and the initial police report from these institutions, obtain a formal certificate of loss of passport from the same police station from where the initial report was obtained.

After obtaining the certificate of loss of passport, a new passport should be issued from the embassy of your country, after which the foreigner's affairs office should be contacted, where the visa will be stamped on the new passport. The visa will be valid for the same date as the expiry date of the old visa.

In case the Iqama holder's passport is lost outside of Dubai, he/she will issue a duplicate passport according to the law of his/her country, after which he/she should approach the Dubai Embassy and obtain an entry permit from there to enter Dubai.
