Veterinarians and experts in animal sciences in Saudi Arabia say that "the love of keeping cats among girls in the kingdom has become a fashion".

According to Al-Watan newspaper, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Al-Ahsa region organized a program regarding the World Cat Day in which the most beautiful and unusual cat is to be selected.

24 cats are participating in the competition, whose owners include 18 girls and 6 boys.

The regional director of the Ministry of Environment, Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Atiq, said that the purpose of organizing the program is to provide awareness to the cat breeders so that they can take better care of it.

The regional director further said that 'every day about 6 cats are brought to the veterinary clinic for vaccination, after which a medical certificate is also issued to them after regular registration. Most of the visitors to the veterinary clinic are women.

Regarding the beauty pageant of cats, veterinarian Dr. Yasin Ramadan said that "the international rules of the pageant are set according to which the cats participating in the pageant are tested."

In addition, Dr. Salah Al-Hajri, a veterinarian, said that 'research has made it clear that there are positive effects on the health of those who raise animals.'

"Especially in the present era when man lives surrounded by artificial things. For example, internet etc. due to which some people become addicted to it and it also has bad effects on their psychology. Pet owners spend some of their time on their pets away from these things, which distract them.
